Finnick is my first Vizsla after two generations of Boxers. He from Legendary Run Vizslas in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was from their beautiful & sweet Greta (Lorac) and the handsome sire, Madsen (Rhapsody).  Finnick was born in March 2021 and was the “blue boy” named Bo Diddley from the “Legends of Rock” litter. As a puppy, Finnick was outgoing. He was also adventurous, as he was the puppy who would to jump into anything without considering consequences…he is still adventurous and I keep him safe while he explores, hunts and lives. 

The reason I wanted a Vizsla is that I loved the idea of a versatile dog with endurance and natural athleticism. I had the opportunity to interact with Vizslas many times and really loved their energy and personalities.  It was from those experiences and my research that I decided that a Vizsla was going to be the next breed I would have. I had no idea the journey this little red dog would take me on, but I knew I’d be up for trying anything!

Finnick is named after the easy-on-the-eye character in Hunger Games, Finnick Odair.  In fact, his registered name is:  Legendary Pretty Thing Odair Odds Are In His Favor is a nod to this character as well as a famous line from another Hunger Games character – “May the odds be ever in your favor!”. In addition, since he was “Bo Didley” from the Legends of Rock litter, I felt as though an acknowledgement to this was also warranted.  Thus, “Pretty Thing” was homage to his litter name! In hindsight, I had no idea just how this would suit Finnick.

Once we settled into each other’s company, there isn’t anything we won’t try together – from stand up paddle boarding, mountain biking, joring sports, canine disc sports, scent work, field work and naturally, conformation.
